Infinity Ward might have just made the biggest mistake in PC gaming ever. They announced that Modern Warfare 2 on the PC would use a matchmaking service called IWNet and players will not be able to host their own dedicated servers. If this happens, then that eliminates custom created maps from multiplayer. Custom maps have long been a staple of PC gaming, and as you can imagine, players are pissed about this. There is currently a petition that is asking Infinity Ward to get rid of this matchmaking service and reinstate dedicated servers. That petition has nearly 28,000 signatures (including myself) and is growing by the second. If you are against this, then I strongly recommend that you go sign that petition. Infinity Ward can’t just ignore 28,000 signatures (remember, it worked with the Left 4 Dead petition).

The newest update for Team Fortress 2 will NOT have any updates to the current classes. However, it will feature 18 new hats and a new gametype. The new gametype will be King of the Hill. It will have it’s own map to go with it, and two old maps (Nucleus and Sawmill) are being redisigned for KoTH gameplay. There isn’t a release date for this update yet; but as you probably already guessed, it will not be coming to the Xbox version of the game.
In attempting to combine a game similar to the Sims involving Darwin’s theory of evolution, Spore initially allowed users to create a creature out of cells and simply allow it to evolve throughout the course of the game. However, the newest addition to the game, Spore Galactic Adventures, allows users to now create their own environments and manipulate their characters better than ever before. Highly anticipated by gamers and scientists alike, the original Spore game allowed users to fully appreciate the theory of evolution, although it fell short on delivering any sort of content like the Sims did. Not including any type of further adventure for its users, the game was forced to come up with its newest edition in order to allow users to participate in more activities.
Allowing gamers to express their own creativity is the best part of many games similar to Spore, which is why it needed this sequel of sorts to boost its ratings. Many users already develop their own creatures and buildings in the original Spore which set the town for the adventure creation capabilities which Spore Galactic Adventures offers to them. These new adventures allow the charms of the evolving-creature stage to be let into the space stage in another welcome sense of progression. The adventure creator is much more difficult than the creature creator, although after experimenting with it for a while, you will truly get a handle on it. The ability to customize your own planet as well as molding the environments within it is a must need for this type of video game. As many reviews have stated: “before, you got to play as God and architect; now, you get to play as game designer too.”
In this video game era that features games like Call of Duty and Resident Evil, another game that allows you to create an atmosphere and character is a welcome addition to the many violent games that have overtaken our consoles. Appealing to its own audience, Spore may not be for everyone, but can serve as a welcome break from a simple killing game, and allow you to actually take the time to think about what you want to create. So often now, games are created that serve no purpose other than to appeal to the masses of older gamers who simply want to shoot, kill, and destruct; creating a game that allows you to manipulate your surroundings and determine your outcome is one that should be applicable for users of all ages.

EA has made the game Battle Forge available to download for free at www.battleforge.com. Battle Forge is a PC RTS game. This free version contains most of the game, but there are a few features that are not included in the free version. I am probably not going to get it because I’m not really a fan of RTS games.
What is Raven Squad? It is the game I have been waiting for. It is both First Person Shooter and Real Time Strategy. SouthPeak and Evolved have been working on this game and it is due out this fall on PC and Xbox 360. *Images from Kotaku*

As most know, movies are generally adapted at times into Video Games which usually turn out to be really bad or just plain short. Fortunatley Origins is the first step at being the first true movie adaption that actually isn’t bad at all.
You take control of Wolverine (of coarse) and go through most of the movies locals and a few extras that the developers added to make the game much longer than a normal movie game. Wolverines gameplay is a mix between God of War and Devil May Cry. It’s a repetitive generic slasher, but what makes the game fun is all of the gore and maneuvers you can pull off. You can totally lunge at people from yards away it seems and as you fight you gain experience which levels you up and grants you more health and points to upgrade Wolverines claws, health and rage meter which can take a bit of awhile to actually earn everything.
The story isn’t on par as anyone would expect nor does it make any sense even with the movies standards, plus the unreal 3 engine here is really showing its age, it just looks terrible, but the extra few levels the developers put in i did enjoy, and the bosses were pretty fun to battle. The game took about a good 16 hours to finish so for a movie game, your getting a a lot of hours surprisingly. While i don’t recommend this really, it’s a fun game while it lasts and for this being a movie game, it’s definitely a step above any other movie adaptions in the last few years that I’ve played so go give this a try or a rent at least, it’s worth it.
Bethesda has announced that they will be releasing a new Fallout game. The game will be entitled Fallout New Vegas. They say it will not be a continuation on Fallout 3 it is just another Fallout game. They said that it will be released on the PlayStation 3, Pc, and Xbox 360. Bethesda also said they will not be changing the game play(luckily) and it will be a whole different map filled with new enemies and places. They also pointed out that it will not be affecting the launch dates of any of their other games. Bethesda said they would release more information down the road.
Okay, so we know that we get two more campaigns for versus and the new survival mode, but we haven’t heard anything on it. Well I have come across some interesting facts. Each round has no time limit but Valve thinks you will last about ten minutes. It is extremely fast paced and the amount of zombies killed in one round will be more than an entire campaign. Reloading and saving your partners will have to be perfectly timed. After ten minutes in a tank spawns every 45 seconds and after 15 minutes they spawn every 10. So this sounds intense and can’t wait to play it.
