New Look For PS3 Boxes

Posted by austinreynolds on September 4, 2009

PS3 Box

This is the new look for the Playstation 3 game boxes. Personally, I think the old boxes looked better. Also, if you suffer from OCD, looking at your collection of old boxes and new boxes together could cause fatal spontaneous combustion.

PS3-Compact Racing Wheel

Posted by sid982 on June 14, 2009

Sony is releasing a racing wheel to make their racing games more realistic. This racing wheel reminds me of the racing wheel for Mario Cart on the Wii, I mean you put the controler in and spin it around. I only hope this wheel gives you more control than the Mario Cart wheel. The new Compact Racing Wheel from Sony will be in stores on June 19, 2009.

Sega Continues to Make Crappy Sonic Games

Posted by austinreynolds on May 28, 2009

Sega just doesn’t understand that there has not been a good Sonic game since Sonic Adventure 2.  Today, Sega announced Sonic & Sega All-Star Racing.  This is just going to be a crappy Mario Kart rip-off.  One thing I don’t understand about this game is why they are making Sonic drive a car.  Sonic is supposed to be the fastest thing alive, and Sega thinks it is a good idea to throw him in a car.  This game will be released on the 360, PS3, Wii, and DS in the year 2010.

Fake Skateboarding. Now Packaged With Real Injuries!

Posted by austinreynolds on May 15, 2009

This has been a rumor for quite some time now, but today it was made official by Activision.  Tony Hawk Ride will be played by using a giant plastic skateboard.  I don’t really know what to say about it other that it is a giant freaking skateboard.  Tony Hawk Ride will release on the 360, PS3, and Wii.  The game will probably work something like this:

  1. Buy game
  2. Get a fat friend
  3. Record video of fat friend trying to play the game
  4. Fat friend falls and breaks his face
  5. Upload video to Youtube
  6. Sue Activision for injuries
  7. ?????
  8. PROFIT!!!

X-men Origins: Wolverine (Uncaged Edition) Game Review

Posted by ckff71up on May 13, 2009

System: Xbox 360, Playstation 3, PC

Release Date: Already Released

Publisher: Activision

ESRB Rating: M for Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, and Language

Price: $60

Score: 8.0

As most know, movies are generally adapted at times into Video Games which usually turn out to be really bad or just plain short. Fortunatley Origins is the first step at being the first true movie adaption that actually isn’t bad at all.

You take control of Wolverine (of coarse) and go through most of the movies locals and a few extras that the developers added to make the game much longer than a normal movie game. Wolverines gameplay is a mix between God of War and Devil May Cry. It’s a repetitive generic slasher, but what makes the game fun is all of the gore and maneuvers you can pull off. You can totally lunge at people from yards away it seems and as you fight you gain experience which levels you up and grants you more health and points to upgrade Wolverines claws, health and rage meter which can take a bit of awhile to actually earn everything.

The story isn’t on par as anyone would expect nor does it make any sense even with the movies standards, plus the unreal 3 engine here is really showing its age, it just looks terrible, but the extra few levels the developers put in i did enjoy, and the bosses were pretty fun to battle. The game took about a good 16 hours to finish so for a movie game, your getting a a lot of hours surprisingly. While i don’t recommend this really, it’s a fun game while it lasts and for this being a movie game, it’s definitely a step above any other movie adaptions in the last few years that I’ve played so go give this a try or a rent at least, it’s worth it.

Rock Revolution Review

Posted by austinreynolds on April 30, 2009

System: Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Wii, Nintendo DS

Release Date: Already Released

Publisher: Konami

ESRB Rating: T for Lyrics

Score: 7

PLEASE NOTE:  This rating is on the guitar portion of the game only.  I did not buy the official Rock Revolution drum kit, and my GH: World Tour kit is currently broken.

I picked this game up at the Best Buy $10 game sale.  I’m going to be honest and say that I really did not expect much from this game.  It was only $10, and I thought it would be fun for a few hours, get some achievements, write a review, and I’m done.  However, this game isn’t as bad as people make it out to be.  It only has a little over 40 songs, and nearly all of them are covers, but it is a really good track list.  Hell, if they weren’t cover versions then this might be the best song list out of any music game out right now.  Some of the songs include:

  • Somebody Told Me as made famous by The Killers (It’s about time a music game got this song)
  • Am I Evil? as made famous by Diamond Head
  • Pull Me Under as made famous by Dream Theater
  • Stone Cold Crazy as made famous by Queen
  • Spoonman as made famous by Soundgarden

While it has a good song list, the game suffers from some flaws.  Instead of a 3D note chart like Guitar Hero or Rock Band, Rock Revolution uses an awkward-looking 2D chart.  It is also somewhat difficult to tell which notes are hammer-ons and which aren’t.  Some of the charts for the songs are just horribly undercharted.  For example, if you have played Pull Me Under on Guitar Hero World Tour, then you will know that the end of the solo is supposed to be really difficult.  In the Rock Revolution version of the song, I almost hit every note of that solo on my first try, which is something I haven’t even come close to doing in World Tour.  The career mode also lacks depth and has you doing stupid challenges when you just want to play the songs.  Overall, Rock Revolution is a good buy if you can find for about $20 or less (which souldn’t be too hard to find).

Here is a video I made to show what the gameplay looks like.  I probably could have gotten 100% on the song if I really wanted to, but I just wanted to get a quick video up.
